He unlocks the door and programs the Enclosure quietly, leading her down the stairs and out to a breezy road that runs the curved perimeter of a large island with a mountain right in the middle.
"I like to have something to look at," he explains.
"I know," he grins and starts the car, revving it with a happy sigh. He eases out of the garage and onto the road.
"Hang on. If you get hurt, Arthur will kill me."
He isn't worried about it, though, and he certainly doesn't care about seatbelts.
Damn nanny laws.
The 1971 Corvette can reach 60 mph in 6 seconds and runs a 14 second quarter mile. Once they're on the road, Sheehan does his best to demonstrate those two facts.
He chances a glance her way and grins to see her so...happy and free. He
takes the turns lazily, nothing is dangerous enough to worry about, and
lets the wind rake through his hair.
"Never had anything like this at home! Won't have it again," he says over
the sound of the wind.
He laughs, the sound of it stolen by the wind but not the actual feeling of it in his breath and in his chest. "Good!" he says, not taking her seriously. "Now do you see what I mean about the scenery?"
"Oh I have a whole lineup, but I'm always looking for more!" he laughs as they make another turn. He slows just briefly, out reflexively at this point, and then speeds off again.
She wanted to stand up in the chair and yell in happiness. She didn't, but there was a clear bounce when she nearly pulled herself up when they took the curve.
No car surfing today.
"Let's look for some car magazines in the library later! I want you to see some really fast cars before we go for a ride!"
Which might have some more risky driving. But, with seat belts.
Sheehan looks over to her with a laugh as they pull around the other curve towards the garage. They're in the home stretch and he presses his foot down on the long road, then - starts to slow.
She's almost disappointed that it's come to an end. She sinks down in her seat a little- though she straightens up, and twists to look at Sheehan, all excited.
"Oh right, they don't have that in the movies yet." She grinned as she slowly sped up the car.
"Where you learn how to drive in dangerous situations- like tires leaving the ground, rolling cars, that sort of thing." She grinned. "I bet John would love it."

She told him, grinning. Sokie followed him into the Enclosure, making a soft, appreciative noise, leaning against him briefly as she took in the view.
"It's nice. I like it- and maybe I'll have to make some suggestions if we do this again?"

Sheehan has discovered muscle cars.
"What do you think? She's a beauty, huh?"
There are very few things that make Sheehan light up like he's doing now.

She would have said more but seeing the car, her eyes gleamed. Oh....
Nice.
"Les? I want this car."
no subject
He plucks the keys from a peg on the side of the garage and grins. "You can drive next."
He opens the door and waves her in.
no subject
"So long as you keep that promise." She grinned, and with a bounce in her step, slid into the seat.

Mostly because once Sheehan got them on the road- and he was driving like a speed demon- she whooped and threw her arms up, excited.
Hell yeah, this is something she didn't realize she'd been missing.

But she turned, grinning still, and shook her head at him.
"Screw that! I'm making a deal for you." She told him, shouting over the wind. "One where we can have an awesome car!"

"I see what you mean! It's better as you're speeding along."
She peered out the side. It really was pretty.
"You know this means I'll have to introduce you to more Corvettes sometime?" Though she liked this one. It was gorgeous.

"Oh hell yes."

He gets out of the car and leaves the door open for her so they can switch.

She gets out, and huffs a little, giving his shoulder a gentle tap.
"I know you're not greedy. I just didn't realize the loop was so quick."
She huffed at him again, smiling, before moving towards the driver's seat.

He grins and slides into the passenger seat. "Take as many laps as you want."

She shut the door, grinning as she fussed over everything, as a last minute check.
"Or watch some drag racing. We might have to spectate. Or drive in a race."
no subject
no subject
"Maybe in stunt driving! It'll be useful. We could all use it."
She didn't start off tearing rubber, thankfully. She actually started driving at normal speed, out of the garage, like he did.
