He meets her by the door with a laugh.

He is wearing shoes.

"Some of us like the constraints of some social norms," he points out. "Besides, God knows what's on these floors."

"Fair. I mean, I have no idea if the floors are regularly washed."

She was also wearing shoes.

"But one day, we're gonna get you into something breezy. Free your toes a bit." She was teasing at least, all play and no bite.

"Why would you subject anyone to that?"

He unlocks the door and programs the Enclosure quietly, leading her down the stairs and out to a breezy road that runs the curved perimeter of a large island with a mountain right in the middle.

"I like to have something to look at," he explains.

"For funsies."

She told him, grinning. Sokie followed him into the Enclosure, making a soft, appreciative noise, leaning against him briefly as she took in the view.

"It's nice. I like it- and maybe I'll have to make some suggestions if we do this again?"

[heyboss]

"I am not taking criticism at this time," he teases and takes the steps down to a small garage, which he leads her around and reveals -

Sheehan has discovered muscle cars.

"What do you think? She's a beauty, huh?"

There are very few things that make Sheehan light up like he's doing now.

"Pfffft. You deserve shorts and sandals."

She would have said more but seeing the car, her eyes gleamed. Oh....

Nice.

"Les? I want this car."

[heyboss]

He plucks the keys from a peg on the side of the garage and grins. "You can drive next."

He opens the door and waves her in.

"You're my best friend." She declared.

"So long as you keep that promise." She grinned, and with a bounce in her step, slid into the seat.

[heyboss]

"I know," he grins and starts the car, revving it with a happy sigh. He eases out of the garage and onto the road.

"Hang on. If you get hurt, Arthur will kill me."

He isn't worried about it, though, and he certainly doesn't care about seatbelts.

Damn nanny laws.

The 1971 Corvette can reach 60 mph in 6 seconds and runs a 14 second quarter mile. Once they're on the road, Sheehan does his best to demonstrate those two facts.

She laughed, glancing for the seatbelt- but she certainly didn't look too hard.

Mostly because once Sheehan got them on the road- and he was driving like a speed demon- she whooped and threw her arms up, excited.

Hell yeah, this is something she didn't realize she'd been missing.

He chances a glance her way and grins to see her so...happy and free. He takes the turns lazily, nothing is dangerous enough to worry about, and lets the wind rake through his hair.

"Never had anything like this at home! Won't have it again," he says over the sound of the wind.

She laughed happily, her cheeks flushed. There was such a thrill in having the wind going through her hair, the speed of which they were going.

But she turned, grinning still, and shook her head at him.

"Screw that! I'm making a deal for you." She told him, shouting over the wind. "One where we can have an awesome car!"

[heyboss]

He laughs, the sound of it stolen by the wind but not the actual feeling of it in his breath and in his chest. "Good!" he says, not taking her seriously. "Now do you see what I mean about the scenery?"

Just you wait Lester. You'll go home to a muscle car.

"I see what you mean! It's better as you're speeding along."

She peered out the side. It really was pretty.

"You know this means I'll have to introduce you to more Corvettes sometime?" Though she liked this one. It was gorgeous.

[heyboss]

"Oh I have a whole lineup, but I'm always looking for more!" he laughs as they make another turn. He slows just briefly, out reflexively at this point, and then speeds off again.

She wanted to stand up in the chair and yell in happiness. She didn't, but there was a clear bounce when she nearly pulled herself up when they took the curve.

No car surfing today.

"Let's look for some car magazines in the library later! I want you to see some really fast cars before we go for a ride!"

Which might have some more risky driving. But, with seat belts.
